About
Welcome to my new website, which started in January 2025.
My name is Cirsten and I am Certified Advanced Rolfer®, Rolf Movement™ Practitioner, Teacher of the F.M. Alexander Technique and copywriter. I also hold an MD, but in bodywork I do not act as a medical doctor.
With my work I wish to help my clients find natural uprightess, effortless movement, and authentic expression. – Plus, a life full of joy and scarce in conflicts and stress. Because bodywork does not act exclusively on the body.
To achieve this, I combine manual work on the connective tissue (Fascial Release) with movement explorations (Somatic Movement Education) and attention to bodily sensations and perception (Embodiment)
In Rolfing, I manually explore tensions in the connective tissue, i.e. the fascial system. The aim is to balance the tensions so that the body can align itself in gravity.
In Rolf Movement and the Alexander Technique (two modalities of Somatic Movement Education), we bring our attention to factors in and around us that our nervous system needs to optimally inform and control the unconsious aspects of our movement coordination. This enables us to change movement habits that we might not be able to change by trying to directly control them.
The third pillar of my work are the beneficial effects on our autonomic nervous system, which come with consciously acknowledging support, like the support we get from the massage table or from the ground under our feet. Reaching a quiet state we experience physically what it means to say “Strength lies in calmless”. Step by step we can become better at keeping this serenity also in activity and at dealing with every day’s challenges.
My Blogs are there to help you understand and – hopefully – become curious
No doubt: In bodywork, experiencing and understanding things in our bodies is the most important thing. However, words can also have an effect.
For some it is important to understand how things work. Only then will they consider engaging in a process where sensing is prime.
For others, more poetic words that evoke a physical sensation might open a door.
Additionally, in my blogs I offer inspirations for little explorations that will help you experience how movement can become effortless.
The way I am pointing, I walked myself
When I decided to study medicine, I intended to become an orthopedic physician specialising in sports medicine. Later, I became more and more interested in psychotherapy.
In the end, I became neither an orthopedic physician nor a psychotherapist. The good thing is, however, that with Rolfing and Somatic Movement Education, I can now experience every day the fascinating interactions between our musculoskeletal system and our psyche.
As not all of the effects of Rolfing, Rolf Movement, and the Alexander Technique have been scientifically proven, I do not act as a medical doctor when doing bodywork. However, my decision to become a Rolfer – as is likely the case for nearly every Rolfer – is that it profoundly changed my life.
In nearly 20 years of training in and practice of Somatic Movement Education, I learned the following:
Our bodies are made for ease and joy
Change is possible and it might come about differently from what we think
and
The way to change is joyful and it does not lead us away from but more towards ourselves.
This is what I would like to share with my clients.
Every journey begins with a first step
